Getting Married on the Amalfi Coast: A Couple's Guide

Why the Amalfi Coast

An Amalfi Coast wedding trades convenience for drama, and the right couples know exactly which they're choosing. Cliffs above the sea, lemon groves, piazzas above the Mediterranean — the visual scale of the coast has no peer among Italian weddings. None of it is easy to reach, but the wedding-feeling you trade for it is unmistakably here.

Where to marry along the coast

Positano. The vertical, white-and-blue, most-photographed town; clifftop ceremonies above the sea. Ravello. Higher up, with the gardens and famous belvederes; the quieter, more traditional choice for an Amalfi Coast wedding. Clifftop terraces. Between the named towns, smaller and less-known venues hold clifftop ceremonies for couples who'd rather not share their date with tourists.

Access, steps, and guest mobility

The Amalfi Coast has hundreds of steps and few straight lines. For a wedding here, the realistic question is mobility: who can climb the steps to the venue, and who can't. A small guest count helps; a single location for ceremony and reception is often the practical move. Avoid mid-summer weekends for the same reason as the rest of the destination crowd — every viewpoint is busy in July and August.

Elopements on the Amalfi Coast

For two (or a handful), the coast becomes somewhere else entirely. The logistical difficulty disappears at small scale: a clifftop in the quiet of the morning, no buses, no ferried guests, no schedule. Many couples choose to elope here instead — mid-week mornings in spring or late September give the coast to you.

Plan your coastal ceremony

Whether you're planning a clifftop ceremony for 30 or a morning elopement for two, the format changes more than the place does. Tell me the guest count and the month you're considering.

FAQ

Quick questions, clear answers

Late May, June, and September are the sweet spots: warm but not scorching, with calmer sea and fewer crowds than July and August.
